20-0

How to Play

Assemble a team of historical pro football legends and find out if they could go a perfect 20-0 — and win the Super Bowl.

📅 Why modern pools start in 1999

The randomly-spun team rosters are drawn from 1999 onward. That's the first season with complete, consistent, play-by-play statistics for every player and position — the foundation we need to rate players fairly against their era's peers. Reliable box-score data (especially for defense and the trenches) gets spotty the further back you go, so going earlier would mean guessing at numbers. Pre-1999 greats aren't left out: they live in the hand-curated legend eras (every run includes one), rated by their dominance and accolades instead of modern box scores.

1

🎰 Spin the slot machine

Each round, press SPIN to roll a random team and era (e.g. "Dallas, 1992–96"). Modern eras span 5 years; legend eras span a decade or more. You'll see every player from that team in that window.

2

📋 Draft 12 positions

Pick one player from the spin and place them into an open slot. You fill your offense first, then your defense. FLEX spots accept multiple positions, and versatile players (like an edge/linebacker) can fill more than one slot.

3

🔄 Use re-rolls wisely

Don't like a spin? You get one re-roll per side of the ball. Every run also guarantees exactly one legend era — a curated all-time-great team from before 1999. A team + era never repeats in a run.

4

🏆 Simulate your season

Once all 12 spots are filled, your team plays a full 20-game season (17 regular + 3 playoff). Land a perfect 20-0 to win the Super Bowl — then share your roster and grade with friends.

📊 How scoring works

Ratings are era-relative — every player is judged against their own era's peers, so a 1970s great stands shoulder to shoulder with a modern one. (The rating itself is always hidden — infer it from the stats, the year, and your football knowledge.)

Your record is the position-weighted strength of all 12 starters. Premium positions count for more, so a star there is worth chasing:

QB 1.5×EDGE 1.2×CB 1.2× everyone else 1.0×

Balance is everything: a single weak spot drags your average down, and only a near-flawless roster runs the table.

S+ Perfect 20-0 Immortal
A+ 19 wins Elite
A 18 wins Contender
A- 17 wins Dangerous
B+ 16 wins Playoff-Bound
B 15 wins Solid
B- 14 wins Winning
C+ 13 wins Above Average
C 12 wins Average
C- 11 wins Mediocre
D 9–10 wins Rebuilding
F 0–8 wins Tanking

🔢 What counts toward each rating

Each rating weighs impact plays the most (touchdowns, sacks, interceptions), then grades every player against their own era's peers at the same position — so a 1985 star and a 2015 star are measured fairly. Here's the gist of what each spot rewards:

🏅 Awards count too

Ratings blend the full stat line with the hardware: MVP, All-Pro, and award-winning seasons get a real boost, so an honored year rates above what the raw numbers alone would say.

QB Passing production and efficiency, plus rushing. Turnovers hurt.
RB Total yards and touchdowns on the ground and through the air, plus workload.
WR / TE Receiving production and touchdowns, plus the occasional rushing or return score.
EDGE / DT Getting to the quarterback — sacks, hits, tackles for loss — and takeaways.
LB Tackling, pass rush, and coverage takeaways.
CB / S Coverage and takeaways (interceptions and break-ups), plus tackling.

Standout kick/punt returns count for whoever made them. Pre-1999 legends are curated by their era dominance and accolades rather than these modern box-score stats.

🎲 Same legend, different years

Star players with multiple great seasons show up as a random one of them — so the same legend can arrive with a different stat-line each run. Check the year on each card to see which season you're drafting.

  • Watch the year on each card — it tells you exactly which season (and which stat-line) you're drafting.
  • • Only a player's elite seasons are in the mix — every version you can draft is roughly as strong, so it adds variety without changing how hard a player is to land.
  • • In the Daily Challenge everyone gets the same version that day, and both sides of a ranked or head-to-head match draft from the same versions — so it stays a fair race.
  • • Want the classics instead? Pick Prime seasons in the setup screen and every player shows his single best year.

It keeps spins fresh and honors the full breadth of a legend's prime — not just one signature season.

🏅 The Ranked ladder

Ranked matches are live 5-player lobbies drafting the same spins — best roster wins. Your rank is a career ladder: 7 tiers, each with 4 divisions (IV up to I), and 100 SP to climb through each division.

Legend The top 25 players on the board — ranked #1 to #25
MVP Divisions IV–I · the top tier — MVP I's SP is uncapped, and the race past it is the Legend board
Superstar Divisions IV–I
All-Star Divisions IV–I
Veteran Divisions IV–I
Starter Divisions IV–I
Bench Divisions IV–I
Rookie Divisions IV–I

Placements. Your first 3 ranked games are placement matches — you play unranked while the system finds your starting rank (never higher than Superstar; MVP and Legend must be climbed into).

Earning SP. Every match moves your SP based on where you place and how strong the lobby is. Winning always pays (a 1st is never less than +15 SP, a 2nd never loses SP), and one match can swing at most +40 / −30. If your hidden skill rating says you're better than your current rank, a catch-up bonus speeds the climb — that's the “catch-up” line on the results card.

Promotion & demotion. Fill the 100-SP bar to promote to the next division (or tier). Right after a promotion you get a 3-game shield — you can't demote while it lasts. Drop to 0 SP with no shield and you demote, landing partway up the lower division so one bad night can't spiral.

Legend. Above MVP sits Legend — not a tier, a position: the top 25 players in the game, shown as Legend #1 through #25. Someone can take your spot; you can take it back.

Each mode keeps its own separate rank, and division boundaries are calibrated from the live player population each season — so a rank always means the same thing relative to the field.
